The March 1st movement was an independence movement of Korea that pursued the realization of the national right of self-determination, one of the principles for post-war international order, immediately after the First World War. This year is the 100th anniversary of the movement. This session will trace back the changes in perceptions of international order during the last century and look forward to the future of Korean relations and international order. Participants will evaluate and discuss the following topics. First, we discuss the present implications of the March 1st movement. Second, we evaluate changes in perceptions of international order experienced by the international community over the past century, including imperialism, national self-determination, and post-colonialism. Third, we will trace back to Japan's change in perception of the Korean peninsula.
