Concerning the implementation of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) article 16, ‘Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions’, Korea and Australia are up for discussion as to the role of the Official Development Assistance(ODA) in promoting regional peace and comfort. Korea and Australia, under the supervision of the Committee for Development Cooperation, have sought together to plan a development strategy following the New Southern Policy and Indo-Pacific Strategy, to invest in building infrastructure in Southeast Asia and to implement SDGs. In this session, experts invited from Korea and Australian academia are to examine cases of ODA which successfully coordinate making peace with development. The session will also have a chance to have a distinguished scholar from DR Congo presenting a perspective of the academia of a recipient country on issues derived from the current bilateral and multilateral peacebuilding program which leads to sharing possible solutions to achieve “peacebuilding and sustaining peace”.
