These days there are more conflicts among East Asian Countries than before. Nationalism rooted in past history and statism propelled by exclusive national interests is essential for bringing back the old conflicts. Also, there is an increase in disputes among East Asian Countries surrounding sovereignty over island and maritime jurisdiction in the East and South China Sea. In recent years, the conflicts have been widened by the proclamation of the air defense identification zone (ADIZ). It is considered that there could be a potential for accidental collisions among China, Japan, Korea, and ASEAN members. The augmentation of these conflicts will inhibit the economic, social, and cultural cooperation in the region, adversely affecting the stability and integration of East Asian Countries. Resolving conflict among East Asian Countries is emerging as a top priority goal for establishing peace in the region. Mid and long term plans should be made on the role of university education in cultivating leaders for the future with a common pursuit of national interest, addressing historical issues, and upholding the importance of peace. To foster peaceful resolutions among conflicting nations, the role of college education is approached from various angles.
