아미타브 아차리아 교수는 미국 아메리칸대학교 국제관계학 석좌교수이자 유네스코 지정 ‘초국가적 도전과 거버넌스’ 석좌(UNESCO Chair in Transnational Challenges and Governance)를 맡고 있다. 아차리아 교수는 비서구 학자 최초로 국제정치학회(International Studies Association, ISA) 회장을 역임(2014~2015) 하였으며, ISA Distinguished Scholar Award를 세 차례 수상하였다. 그의 주요 저서로는 『The Once and Future World Order: Why Global Civilization Will Survive the Decline of the West』(Basic Books, 2025), 『The Making of Global International Relations』(Cambridge University Press, 2019, Barry Buzan 공저), 『Constructing Global Order』(Cambridge University Press, 2018), 『The End of American World Order』(Polity, 2014, 2018), 『The Making of Southeast Asia』(Cornell University Press, 2013), 『Whose Ideas Matter』(Cornell University Press, 2009) 등이 있다. 그의 논문은 International Organization, International Security, International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Asian Studies, Foreign Affairs, International Affairs, World Politics 등의 주요 학술지에 게재되었다.
