4.3, which occurred during the US military regime in the Cold War era, should be considered not only as a domestic issue but also as a global concern. In this 4.3 session, under the theme of ‘State Violence and Memory’, we would like to discuss how foreign journalists have dealt with the issue, what viewpoints they have had on it and what prospects should be sought for peace. It is to raise the scope of 4.3 to the international level.

냉전시대 미군정하에서 일어난 4.3은 국내만이 아니라 세계의 문제로 인식돼야 마땅하다. 이번 4.3세션에서는 4.3 70년을 맞아 4.3을 국제적 이슈로 확장하기 위해 ‘국가폭력과 기억’을 주제로, 과연 외신기자들은 4.3을 어떻게 다뤘으며, 어떠한 시각으로 4.3을 바라보고 있는가, 향후 과제에 대한 모색과 평화에 대한 전망을 해보고자 한다.
