[Jeju Peace Institute 제주평화연구원]<BR><BR>The world is faced with the supra-national issues ranging from climate change to nuclear proliferation, refu-gee crisis and terrorism. Paradoxically, the weakened leadership of superpowers indicates that middle powers such as Korea might have more room to assume greater leadership roles in dealing with the regional and global issues. This session will provide the opportunity for the global leaders of middle powers to share wide and in-depth views on the role of middle powers for the peace and prosperity of Asia, to assess the threats and challenges arising on a regional or global scale and to explore their roles in coping with them.<BR><BR>오늘날 인류는 기후변화부터 핵 확산, 난민 위기, 테러 발생 위협 등 다양한 초국경적 문제에 직면해 있다. 강대국의 리더십 약화는 역설적으로 한국을 포함한 중견국들이 지역적·지구적 이슈에서 리더십을 발휘할 여지가 더 커졌음을 의미한다. 이 세션에 서는 주요 중견국의 글로벌 리더들이 평화와 번영의 아시아를 이루기 위한 중견국의 역할과 전략에 관 해 다양하고 심도 있는 의견을 나누며, 지역적·지구 적으로 발생하고 있는 위협과 도전 요인을 진단하고 그 해결을 위한 중견국의 역할을 모색한다.
