Joe Kaeser, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens AG, the global electrical engineering and electronics company based in Germany, said that manufacturing industry is changing rapidly through digitalization. Compared to the digital revolution in consumer products such as smart phones, apps, and music, he predicted that the biggest change in the future would be seen in the manufacturing industry. He also came up with the term “Industry 4.0” as representing a future vision of Germany and South Korea, countries with strong manufacturing industry. In this session, Joe Kaeser gives advice to Korean entrepreneurs on how to cope with a new world economic order, as well as on their roles in the unified Korea.

독일에 본사를 둔 세계적인 전기전자기업인 독일 지멘스의 조 케저 회장 겸 최고경영자(CEO)는 제조업이 디지털화를 통해 급변하고 있다고 진단했다. 지금까지는 스마트폰, 앱, 음악 등의 소비재에서 디지털 혁명이 일어났지만 앞으로는 제조업에 가장 큰 변화가 일어날 것이라고도 예측했다. 또한 제조업이 강세를 보이는 한국과 독일의 미래 버전으로‘인더스트리 4.0 (4차 산업혁명)’을 꼽은 바 있다. 이 세션은 염재호 고려대 총장과의 대담을 통해 변화하는 세계경제 질서에 한국 기업들이 어떻게 대처할지 모색하고 통일한국에서 기업의 역할에 대해 알아본다.
