[2-B] Overcoming Geopolitical Gap in Northeast Asia: Toward a New Politics of Trust and Harmony|

[East Asia Foundation]

Northeast Asia faces a new strategic environment with the rise of China, normalizing Japan, and nuclear-developing North Korea. The paradox of increasing conflicts despite deepening socioeconomic interdependence runs through the region. Rather than tightening cooperation among nations in the region, geopolitical gaps are widening. How to cope with these challenges constitutes major concerns of member countries in the region. This panel discusses the hurdles and opportunities of overcoming geopolitical gap in Northeast Asia with a view to establishing a new politics of harmony and trust.
