Ogura Kizo is Professor of Kyoto University. Born in 1959 in Tokyo. Upon his graduation from Department of German Language and Literature, Faculty of Letters, University of Tokyo, Mr. Ogura joined Dentsu Inc. After five years in Dentsu, he went to South Korea to study. He earned credits in the doctoral course of the Faculty of Philosophy (Oriental Philosophy) of the Graduate School of Seoul National University. In 1996, he joined the Foreign Language Center of Tokai University as a full-time lecturer since returning to Japan. In 2006 he became associate professor at the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University, and assumed his current position in 2012. Mr. Ogura also had been a lecturer for Korean language program of NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) from 2001 to 2007, and had also served as a committee member of “Japan-Korea Friendship Year 2005” hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and "Japan-Korea Exchange Festival 2006", “etc.
His academic interests include the structuring of East Asia based on Eastern thought, culture and philosophy. Among his many publications are Kankoku wa ikko no tetsugaku dearu [Korea as One Philosophy](1998), Kankoku, hikisakareru kosumosu [Korea, Torn Cosmos](2001), Kanryu inpakuto [Impact of Korean Wave](2005), Rekishi ninshiki o norikoeru [Overcoming Historical Perceptions] (2005), and Chosen shisou zenshi [A Brief History of Korean Thought] (2017).

일본 교토대학 교수. 교토대학 120년 역사상 처음으로 한국어 및 한국사상을 가르치는 전임교수다. 도쿄대학 독일문학과를 졸업한 후 광고회사 덴쓰에서 5년 동안 근무했다. 1988년에 한국으로 유학, 서울대학교 철학과 동양철학 전공 석사 및 박사과정에서 8년 동안 한국철학을 공부했다. 문학석사.
1996년에 일본으로 돌아와, 도카이대학에서 전임강사, 조교수로 근무했다. 2006년에 교토대학 대학원 인간환경학연구과의 조교수가 되어, 2012년에 교수가 되었다.
NHK(일본방송협회) 한국어 강좌 강사, “일한우정의 해 2005”일본측 실행위원, “일한문화교류회의”일본측 위원 등을 지냈으며, 현재 “현대한국조선학회”회장으로 활동하고 있다.
저서로는 “한국은 하나의 철학이다”(1998), “한류 임팩트”(2005), “창조하는 동아시아”(2011), “주자학화하는 근대일본”(2012), “새로 읽는 논어”(2013) , “북한이란 무엇인가”(2015), “조선사상전사”(2017) 등이 있다.

１９５９年東京都生まれ。１９８３年東京大学ドイツ文学科卒業後、電通に勤務。１９８８年に電通退社後、韓国に留学。１９９３年ソウル大学哲学科修士課程修了（文学修士）、１９９６年同博士課程単位取得退学。１９９６年東海大学専任講師、１９９９年同助教授、２００６年京都大学助教授を経て、２０１２年から現職。専門は朝鮮半島の思想・文化、東アジア哲学。NHKテレビ・ラジオハングル講座講師、「日韓友情年２００５」実行委員、「日韓交流おまつり」実行委員、「日韓文化交流会議」委員などをつとめた。現代韓国朝鮮学会会長、比較文明学会理事、地球システム倫理学会理事。主な著書に『韓国は一個の哲学である』『韓流インパクト』『歴史認識を乗り越える』（以上、講談社）、『韓国、ひき裂かれるコスモス』（平凡社）、『心で知る、韓国』（岩波書店）、『韓国、愛と思想の旅』（大修館書店）、『日中韓はひとつになれない』（角川書店）、『ハイブリッド化する日韓』（NTT出版）、『創造する東アジア　文明・文化・ニヒリズム』（春秋社）、『朱子学化する日本近代』『北朝鮮とは何か』（以上、藤原書店）、『入門　朱子学と陽明学』『新しい論語』『朝鮮思想全史』（以上、筑摩書房）などがある。
