Regent Mayor
Hugua was re-elected as Regent Mayor of Wakatobi in 2011 for another 5 years mayorship term, 2011-2016. He attended several professional short courses among others Executive Education Ideas organised by MIT Sloan School of Management, Boston-USA in 2014, Community Empowerment by TIC Tokyo in 2003, and Economy and Environment by University of New England Armidale-Australia in 2002.

Currently Hugua holds position in various international organisations and professional affiliations, namely the member of Executive Bureau of the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC), Chairman of Local Government Network – Coral Triangle Initiative (LGN-CTI CFF), Advisory Board member of Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI), member of the United Nations Advisory Committee on Local Authorities (UNACLA), Chairman of Indonesian Sail Tourism Association (ASWINDO), Head of Environment and Conservation Unit and Coordinator for Southeast Sulawesi region of the Association of Indonesian Regencies Government (APKASI).

Among his achievements, Hugua succeeded in promoting the beauty of Wakatobi as one of the most attractive tourist destination. He has been awarded as the Local Leader Strongly Committed to Environment Preservation and won the Indonesia Green Award. Under his leadership, Wakatobi has granted national and international awards, including the Highest Appreciation MDGs given by UNDP and Metro TV.
