Dr. Goosoon KWON obtained his doctorate in international relations at the graduate school of international studies (gsis) of Korea University in 2010 and was a research professor at the peacekeeping operation center of the Korea National Defense Univ. until he joined the department of general education at Seoul Cyber University (SCU) in July, 2011.
At SCU, he was a deputy director of student affairs in 2011 and a director general of the secretariat of the ASEAN Cyber University Project, funded by the Ministry of Education of Korea during 2012 to 2013. Since then, Dr. KWON has implemented a variety of e-learning development and capacity building projects in Asian developing countries, sponsored by KOICA and EC-TEIN Network.
Before joining academia, he gained a variety of field experiences in arenas of humanitarian assistance, post-conflict reconstruction and peacebuilding, and international development as a practitioner at the Korean Red Cross Movement (2001-2006), Goodpeople Int’l (2008-2009) and UN Peacekeeping Mission (UNMIL / 2009-2010).
Dr. KWON is currently a deputy chair of general affairs committee of Korea Association of International Development and Cooperation; a member of the advisory board on humanitarian affairs of the Korean NGO Council for Overseas Cooperation (KCOC); and an advisor of Reshaping Development Institute (ReDI).
