Wooyeal PAIK is an assistant professor at Department of Political Science and International Studies, Yonsei University since 2017. Previously, he was an assistant professor Academy of East Asian Studies (2011-2016) and vice director at Sungkyun Institute of China Studies, Sungkyunkwan University (2014-2016) in Seoul, Korea. Prof. PAIK received a B.A. in polit-ical science from Yonsei University, a M.Phil. in public and social administration from City University of Hong Kong, and a M.A. and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of California at Los Angeles. Specializing in comparative politics and international relations, his recent research focuses on the comparative authoritarianism, political economy and state-society relations of contemporary China and Asia along with international security and political economy in East Asia and beyond. His recent publications appear in The China Quarterly, Political Science Quarterly, International Political Science Review, Modern China, Journal of Contemporary China, The Pacific Review, The Pacific Focus, Korean Po-litical Science Review, and multiple policy-oriented journals / edited volumes.
<BR><BR>연세대학교, City University of Hong Kong, 미국 UCLA에서 비교정치와 국제정치를 공부하였으며 현재 연세대학교 정치외교학과 교수로 재직 중이다. 성균관대학교 동아시아학술원 교수(2011-2016)와 성균중국연구소의 부소장(2014-2016)으로, 칭화대학교, 중국사회과학원, University of Hong Kong 등에서 연구원으로, 외교부 국정과제 평가위원으로 활동했다. 주요 학술적-정책적 연구 분야는 중국과 동남아시아, 중앙아시아, 남아시아의 정치경제, 국가-사회관계, 비교권위주의, 그리고 동아시아의 안보, 국제정치경제, 공공외교 등이다.
