LEE Sang Hyun 이상현
	The Sejong Institute 세종연구소 Vice president of research planning 연구기획본부장 Sang Hyun Lee is a senior research fellow and Chief Director for Research Planning at the Sejong Institute in Korea. He also serves as President of the Korea Nuclear Policy Society (KNPS). He received his B.A. and M.A. from Seoul National University and Ph.D. from the Department of Political Science at the UniversityofIllinoisatUrbana-Champaignin1999. He was a research fellow at the Korean Institute for International Studies (1987-88), the Korea Institute for Defense Analysis (1988-90), and policy advisor for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Unification, and Ministry of National Defense. He has served as Director-General for Policy Planning, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) from May 2011 to April 2013. His main research interests include international politics and security, Korea-U.S. relations, inter-Korean relations, nonproliferation, and East Asian security issues. His recent publications include: “U.S. Strategic Rebalancing Policy: Background, Structure, and Prospect” (2014), “South Korea’s Foreign Policy Strategy toward Peace and Stability on the Korean Peninsula”(2013), “U.S. Strategy for Contingency Situations on the Korean Peninsula” (2013), “South Korea’s Complex Diplomacy for the Network Age” (2012), New Security Landscape in East Asia (2011, co-authored, in Korean), Korea’s National Strategy in the Age of Global Transformation (2011, in Korean), and “South Korea’s Nuclear Nonproliferation Policy and Korea-US Nuclear Cooperation” (2010). <BR><BR> 서울대 외교학과를 졸업하고 미국 University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign에서 정치학 박사학위를 받았다. 현재 세종연구소 수석연구위원 및 연구기획본부장, 동북아평화협력센터장을 맡고 있다. 2011년 5월부터 2013년 4월까지 외교통상부 정책기획관으로 근무하면서 한국의 중장기 외교전략 구상을 담당했다. 또한 제17기 민주평통자문회의 기획조정위원회 간사, 한국핵정책학회 회장, 한국핵물질관리학회(INMM) 이사를 맡고 있다. 한국국제관계연구소와 한국국방연구원(KIDA) 연구원으로 근무했으며, 동아시아연구원(EAI) 국가안보패널(NSP) 연구위원, 매일경제신문 객원논설위원, 통일부, 육군, 국방부 자문위원으로 활동했다. 국제정치와 안보, 군사전략, 한미관계, 북한 문제를 주로 연구하며, 최근 논저로는 “미국의 아태 재균형 정책: 배경, 구조, 전망”(2014), “한반도 평화를 위한 한국의 외교전략”(2013), “한반도 위기상황에 대비한 미국의 외교․군사전략”(2013), “한국의 중장기 외교전략 구상을 위한 시론”(2013), 『한국의 외교안보 퍼즐』(2012, 공저), 『한미관계론』(2012, 공저), 『새로 그리는 동아시아 안보지도』(2011, 공저), 『변환시대 국가전략: 21세기 안보환경 변화와 한국의 대응』(2011) 등이 있다.
