고령자 및 아동을 위한 주거환경디자인을 전공하였다. 연세대에서 연구교수를 역임하면서 새천년 맞이 새로운 패러다임으로, 해외의 관련 기관과의 협업을 통해 유니버설디자인을 도입하고 소개하는 역할을 담당하였다.
이후 민간 연구소를 설립하여 서울시와 경기도의 유니버설디자인가이드를 개발하고 조례 제정에 참여하여 유니버설디자인의 제도화 및 실현을 위한 다양한 노력을 실천하여 왔다. 또한 학생과 공무원을 위한 교육, 행정안전부 등의 관련 평가위원으로 참여하여 인식 전환과 확산을 위한 다양한 시도를 지속하여 왔다.
현재 서울특별시 유니버설디자인센터의 초대센터장으로 근무하면서 모두를 위한 디자인으로 ‘유니버설디자인’을 서울시는 물론, 전국적으로 실현하기 노력을 지속하고 있다. 저서로는 아동환경디자인, 주요 연구실적으로 서울시, 경기도 등의 가이드라인과, 산업통산자원부 공간혁신 등 다수가 있다.

She majored in residential environment design for the elderly and children. She has established private institute to develop universal design guidelines for Seoul and Gyeonggi Province and participated in enacting ordinances to implement various efforts to realize and institutionalize UD. Furthermore, she has been taking various attempts to change awareness and spread universal design such as participating as relevant evaluation committee members for the ministry of the interior and safety as well as educating public officials and students. Currently, she is working as the first chief officer of the Seoul Universal Design Center and continues to make efforts to realize UD not only in Seoul but also nationwide as a design for all.
