씬디류 의원은 6선 워싱턴주 하원의원으로 활동하고 있다. 한국에서 태어나 1967년 브루나이로, 1969년 마닐라를 통해 미국으로 이주했다. MBA와 미생물학 학사를 seattle 워싱턴대학교에서 받은 후 seattle시에서 근무했다. 남편 류창명 목사와 함께 보험사를 운영하기도 하였다. 2008년 그녀가 의장을 지냈던 Community and Economic Development 위원회에 근무하기전에 그녀는 최초의 재미여성 시장으로 근무하였다. 또한, Board of Women In Government에서 의장을 지내고 Overseas Korean Politicians Council에서의 6년차 의장직을 이어가고 있다.

Cindy Ryu is serving her 6th term as a Representative in the Washington State Legislature. She was born in Korea, moved to Brunei in 1967, and then USA in 1969 via Manila. After receiving a B.S. in Microbiology and an MBA from University of Washington, Seattle and working for the City of Seattle, she ran a successful insurance agency with her husband Cody Ryu(류창명 목사님). In 2008, Rep. Ryu became the first Korean American female mayor in USA before serving in the Legislature where she chairs the Community and Economic Development Committee. She also serves as Chair of the Board of Women In Government and is finishing out her 6th year as Chair of the Overseas Korean Politicians Council.
