이종석은 세종연구소 수석연구위원이자 연세대학교 석좌교수이다. 그는 통일부 장관과 국가안전보장회의 상임위원장을 역임했다. 2003년부터 2005년까지 국가안전보장회의(NSC) 사무차장을 지냈다. 그는 북한과 북중관계에 관한 다수의 서적을 발간했다.

Jong Seok Lee is senior fellow at the Sejong Institute in Seoul and a distinguished professor at Yonsei University. He served a Minister of Unification and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Security Council of South Korea. From 2003 to 2005, he was Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Council. He has published numerous books in Korean on North Korea and North Korea-China relations.
