"경북대학교에서 「고구려 지방통치체제 연구」로 박사학위를 취득하였다. 경북대, 서울교대, 한성대, 연세대 등에서 강의를 하였으며, 고구려연구재단에서 재직하였다. 현재는 동북아역사재단 재직 중이며, 한중관계연구소 소장, 연구정책실장을 역임하였다.
저서로는 『고구려 영역지배방식 연구』(2005),『고구려 왕과 왕자들』(2019),『고구려남자, 고구려여자』(2019)가 있으며, 『다시 찾은 고구려사』,『고구려문명기행사』,『광개토왕비의 신연구』, 『광개토왕비 탐색』등 다수의 공저가 있다. 광개토왕비와 고구려 유민, 고구려시기의 말갈지배 등 고구려사와 동북공정 관련 논문 50여 편이 있다. "

Kim Hyun sook received her Ph.D. from Kyungpook National University. She taught at Kyungpook National University, Seoul National University of Education, Hansung University, and Yonsei University, and worked at the Goguryeo Research Foundation. She is currently a senior researcher at the Northeast Asian History Foundation, and previously served as the head of the Korea-China Relations Institute and the head of the Research Policy Office. She has published about 50 articles on Goguryeo's history and Northeast Borderland History and the Chain of Events Research Project, including memorial stone of the King Gwanggaeto the Great and Goguryeo refugees.
