이원덕 교수는 현재 국민대학교 일본학과 교수이다.외교부,통일부,동북아역사재단 민주평통 등의 자문위원 이었으며, 한일신시대 공동연구 한국 측 간사(2009-2013)이었다.서울대학교 외교학과를 졸업하고,동 대학원에서 정치학 석사학위를,일본 도쿄대학에서 국제관계학 박사학위를 받았다. 미국 피츠버그 대학 객원연구원, 도쿄대학 객원교수,국민대학교 일본학연구소장, 현대일본학회장,한국정치학회 부회장 등을 역임했다. 논저로는 <한일 역사마찰의 정치학>(2019), <South Korea-Japan Relations in Crisis: How to Find a Way Out>(2019), 공저,편저로는《질곡의 한일관계 어떻게 풀 것인가》(2017),《일본 파워 엘리트의 대한정책》(2016), 《한중일 3국관계:새로운 협력을 향하여》(2015) 《한일관계1965-2015정치》(2015)등이 있다.

Professor at Kookmin University’s Department of Japanese Studies, Former Director of the Institute of Japanese Studies at KU. Prof. LEE received his BA and MA in international politics from Seoul National University and his PhD in international relations from University of Tokyo. Since then he served as the research fellow at the Sejong Institute, Asian Institute of Pittsburgh University and the visiting professor at Komaba Campus of University of Tokyo. His main interests include contemporary Japanese Politics, Korea-Japan Relations, Northeast Asia International Relations. He have served as a member of the Policy Consultation Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
