Prof. Hyung Geun Kim, currently a Professor in Department of Marine Bioscience, Gangneung-Wonju National University and President of Korean Society of Phycology. He received his Ph.D in Marine Biology(1991) from the Pusan National Fisheries University.
He also has studied as a post-doctor(1995-1996) at the Department of Marine Bioscience, Tokyo Fisheries University at Tokyo, JAPAN and a visiting scholar(2004-2005) at the Department of Biology, University of Washington at Seattle, USA. He was the Dean of college of Life science(2007-2008) and Dean of Academic affairs(2012~2013) in his university.
Recent studies in his lab have conducted on physiological ecology and cultivation of Grateloupia plants in red algae for biomass production.
