김정태는 제10대 서울시의회 운영위원장(더불어민주당, 영등포구 제2선거구)이며, 전국시도의회운영위원장협의회 회장, 전국시도의회의장협의회 초대 지방분권TF 단장, 제10대 서울시의회 행정자치위원회·기획경제위원회 위원, 제9대 서울시의회 도시계획관리위원장, 제8대 서울시의회 운영위원회·환경수자원위원회·도시계획관리위원회 위원을 맡고 있다.

Choung-tae KIM is the Chairman of Council Steering committee of Seoul Metropolitan Council in South Korea. He is a third-term city council member from Yeongdeungpo-gu, the Democratic Party. Serving as the head of the decentralization TF in the Association of Metropolitan and Provincial Council Chairs and the Chairman of the Association of Metropolitan and Provincial Council Steering Committee Chairs, he has been committed to the advancement of self-governing and decentralization in Korean politics.
