제주대학교 경상대학 관광경영학과에서 재직중인 홍성화 교수는 한양대학교 대학원 관광학과에서 박사학위를 취득하였다. 주전공은 MICE 분야와 관광정책이고 대학과 대학원에서 MICE 및 관광정책과 관련된 과목을 강의하고 있다. 현재 제주관광학회 회장, 한국마이스관광학회 부회장 직을 수행하고 있고 이전에 한국관광학회 총무이사, 한국컨벤션학회 부회장, 대한관광경영학회 이사직을 수행하였다. 제주관광공사 사외이사, 제주컨벤션뷰로 이사, 제주특별자치도 관광협회 이사, 제주특별자치도 지원위원회 위원, 제주상공회의소 자문위원, 제주특별자치도 관광정책자문위원을 수행하고 있다. 제주MBC 토론프로그램 ‘시사진단’에서 진행자 역할을 수행하였으며 대한민국 MICE 대상과 한국관광학회에서 수여한 한국관광진흥대상의 수상경력이 있다.

Professor Hong being served Tourism Management department of Jeju National University’s Economics & Commerce College and served as a director of the MICE sector projects in the LINC(Leaders in Industry University Cooperation). Jeju is his hometown and he obtain a doctoral degree from Hanyang University in tourism department. MICE sector is his major specialization and he do the lectures in the College and Graduate shool ‘s courses which related to MICE. He has consecutively filled in Economics & Commerce College of Jeju National University as Vice Dean.
