김형석 교수는 1920년 평양에서 출생하여 100세의 인생을 살며, 일본 조치(상지)대학 철학과를 졸업하여 중앙중고교 교사와 교감을 거쳐 연세대 철학과 교수로 재직하였다. 이후 미국 하버드연구교환교수, 연세대 학생상담소 소장, 연세대 인문과학연구소 소장으로 재임하였고, 1985년부터 연세대 명예교수로 재직하고 있다. 대한민국 3대 철학자로 손꼽히는 그는 철학가이자 수필가로, 1985년 퇴직 이후 35년간 강연과 집필 활동으로 인생 이모작을 일궈왔다. 그는 인생의 황금기는 60세에서 75세라고 강조하며, 100세 시대 철학자이자 장년의 멘토로 대표되고 있다. 현재에도 <백세일기>, <영원과 사랑의 대화>, <행복 예습> 등 활발한 저술활동과 방송 및 강연을 하고 있으며, 강원도 양구 소재 ‘김형석・안병욱 철학의 집’에서 매월 1회 시민철학 강좌를 진행하고 있다.

Professor Hyeong-Seog Kim was born in Pyongyang in 1920 and lived a 100-year-old life. After graduating from the Department of Philosophy at Jochi University in Japan, he served as a professor at the Department of Philosophy at Yonsei University after going through a vice principal and a teacher at Joongang Middle and High School. Afterward, he served as a research exchange professor at Harvard in the United States, the director of the Yonsei University Student Counseling Center, and the director of the Yonsei University Institute of Humanities and he has been an honorary professor at Yonsei University since 1985. Regarded as one of Korea's top three philosophers, he is a philosopher and essayist and has worked on his life as a lecturer and writing for 35 years since retirement in 1985. He emphasizes that the golden age of life is from 60 to 75 years old, and is represented as a 100-year-old philosopher and senior mentor. Even now, he is actively writing, broadcasting, and giving lectures such as <100years old Diary>, <The Dialogue of eternity and love>, and < Happiness preparation>. In progress.
