Katie Stallard-Blanchette is a British journalist with experience reporting from more than twenty countries. She is currently a visiting fellow at the Wilson Center in Washington, DC where she is working on a book about the political use of wartime history in Russia, China, and North Korea.
Previously based in Beijing as the Asia Bureau Chief for British television news channel Sky News, she led the channel’s coverage across the region, broadcasting from Pyongyang, the DMZ, the disputed waters of the South China Sea, and under sniper fire from ISIS-linked militants in the southern Philippines.
Before moving to China, she was based in Russia as Sky News’ Moscow Correspondent, where she covered the conflict in Ukraine and annexation of Crimea, as well as the 2014 Israel-Gaza war, and the 2013 Taksim Square protests in Turkey.
Originally from the Scottish Highlands, she graduated from University College London.
