김남국은 서울대 정치학과를 졸업하고 영국 옥스포드대학을 거쳐 미국 시카고대학에서 정치학 박사학위를 받았다. 한국유럽학회 회장, 한국정치학회 편집위원장, 한국정치사상학회 연구위원장 등을 맡았고 프랑스 인간과학재단, 파리고등사회과학원의 초빙교수를 지냈다. 한국정치학회, 한국유럽학회의 학술상을 수상한 바 있으며 유럽연합(EU)이 수여하는 장모네(Jean Monnet) 석좌교수에 선정되었고 2014년 이후 마퀴스후스후 세계인명사전에 등재되었다. Multicultural Challenges and Sustainable Democracy in Europe and Asia 등의 저서와 “문화적 권리와 보편적 인권,” “Asia of Citizens beyond Asia of States” 등의 논문이 있다.

Dr. Nam-Kook Kim is Jean Monnet Chair Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Korea University. He studied at Seoul National University, University of Oxford and received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago. His research interests are the philosophical interpretation of public policy in the areas of citizenship, human rights, and multiculturalism in Europe and Asia. He served as the Editor in Chief for the Korean Political Science Review (KPSR) and as the President of the Korean Society of Contemporary European Studies(KSCES). He was also Directeurs d'Etudes Associes at FMSH, France and Professeur Invite at EHESS, France as well. He was the winner of Best Article Awards from the KPSA and KSCES, respectively. In addition, he has been awarded Jean Monnet Chair by the European Union in 2011 and listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the World since 2014. His publications include the articles “Asia of Citizens beyond Asia of States”(2018), “Justifying Ground of Multicultural Policy”(2014), “Democratic Empire of European Union?”(2011) and the books Multicultural Challenges and Sustainable Democracy in Europe and East Asia (2014), Multicultural Challenges and Redefining Identity in East Asia (2014), Deliberative Multiculturalism in Britain (2011).
