Paloma Strelitz, is a Co-founder and Partner of Assemble, an award-winning,
London-based, architecture and urbanism practice. Assemble’s mission is to realise
buildings, enterprises and organisations that support creativity, collaboration and
the active participation of people in cities. The studio’s social focus and impactful
approaches were recognized in the receipt of the 2015 Turner Prize – the UK’s
foremost art award.
Their work spans civic spaces, cultural buildings, creative workspaces, community
planning and organisational development. Assemble have established several new
organisations including Blackhorse Workshop, Granby Workshop and Sugarhouse
Studios, all promoting creative industry, sustainable growth and inclusive access.
Most recently Paloma has led the design and delivery of the new Goldsmiths Centre
for Contemporary Art, which opened in September 2018 as a major new cultural
venue for London.
A proactive campaigner for architecture and urbanism, her work as a designer,
strategist, educator and speaker reflects her passions for urban equity, civic agency
and design innovation. Following her appointment in 2017, Paloma serves as a
Mayoral Design Advocate, supporting the Greater London Authority’s manifesto for
‘Good Growth by Design’ in the Mayor of London’s team. Paloma regularly speaks in
the UK and internationally – both as keynote presenter and participant on expert
panels. In its 2017 listing for International Women’s Day, Dezeen named Paloma as
one of 50 inspirational women in architecture and design, and in 2018, Open City
selected her as one of the foremost 25 women shaping London.
