김영수는 현재 서강대학교 정치외교학과 교수이며, 동 대학 공공정책대학원 북한통일정책학과 교수이다. 민주평화통일자문회의 자문위원, 한반도농생명포럼 및 우리민족서로돕기운동 공동대표로 활동 중이다. 전공분야는 남북한관계, 북한 정치와 사회, 통일문제 등이다. 저서 및 논문은 북한의 딜레마와 미래, 김정일시대의 북한, 김정은체제의 현황과 딜레마, 북한의 대미 인식, 일본사회의 북한관, 북한이탈주민 재사회화문제 등이 있다. 제주대 교수, 육사 교수로 재직했으며, 현재 남북하나재단 교육분과 자문위원 및 한국거래소 남북금융협력 자문위원으로 활동하고 있다.

Kim young-Soo is a member of the National Unification Advisory Council and a professor of Sogang University (Seoul, Korea). Prof. Kim served as the Executive Vice-President at the Sogang University and served at the Advisory Committee for the Ministry of Unification and the Ministry of Defense.

Prof. Kim served as the Chairman of the Korean Association of North Korean Studies(KANKS) and served as the Vice Chairman of the Korean Association of International Studies(KAIS) and the Korean Political Science Association(KPSA). Prof. Kim holds a B.A. (1979) in Political Science and an M.A.(1981) in International Relations and Ph.D.(1992) in North Korean Politics from Sogang University. His studies are on the North Korean studies, North-South Korean relations and on the North Korean refugees. He was a full-time lecturer of Korea Military Academy from 1981-1985 and assistant Professor of the Jeju National University from 1993-1996.
