최동주 교수는 숙명여자대학교 글로벌서비스학부에서 학생들을 가르치고 있으며, 숙명여대 글로벌거버넌스연구소의 소장을 맡고 있다. 주요 연구 주제는 국제정치경제, 분쟁과 경제, 정부 재정 및 개발 모델이다. 현재 한국아프리카학회의 부회장을 맡고 있으며, 한국국제정치학회를 비롯해 여러 학회의 이사를 맡고 있다. 최동주 교수는 교육부 및 인사혁신처 등 한국의 여러 정부기관뿐만 아니라 유엔 및 유엔 산하기관의 정책 연구에 활발히 참여해왔다. 최동주 교수는 1996년 영국 런던대학교 동양아프리카학대학에서 정치경제학 박사학위를 받았으며, 1992년 미국 아메리카대학에서 국제정치경제 석사학위를 받았다.

CHOI Dong-Ju is a professor at the School of Global Services, Sookmyung Women’s University, and serves as Executive Director of Sookmyung Institute of Global Governance. His fields of interest includes international political economy, conflicts and the economy, state finance, and development models. Currently, he is vice president of the Korean Association of African Studies and board member of several academic societies including the Korean Association of International Studies. He has done policy work for various government organizations including the Korean Ministry of Education and the Ministry of HR Innovation, as well as for the United Nations and its agencies. Professor Choi obtained his Ph.D. in political economy from the University of London in 1996 and an M.A. in international affairs from the American University in 1992.
