YOO Sung-Sang 유성상
	Seoul National University 서울대학교 Professor 교수 유성상은 서울대학교 교육학과에서 국제비교교육 분야의 연구 및 교육을 담당하는 교수로 대학원 글로벌교육협력전공의 전공주임을 맡고 있다. 교육은 사회발전의 토대이자 중요한 동인이라는 신념으로 발전으로서의 교육을 이론화하는 연구에 매진하고 있다. 특히 개발도상국의 지속가능한 교육발전 문제에 깊은 관심을 가지고, 사하라이남 아프리카, 남/동남아시아, 라틴아메리카 국가들과의 교육개발협력 실천에 적극 참여하고 있다. 이와 관련하여 최근 파키스탄의 여아교육 지원(UNESCO), 모잠비크의 교육의 질향상(UNICEF), 우간다의 학교기반교사훈련(KOICA-HoE) 등의 현장사업에 참여하고 있다. 교육부의 학교교육혁신분야 전문위원, 한국국제협력단(KOICA)의 교육분야 대표자문위원, 서울시 교육청 및 경기도교육청의 학교혁신 자문위원으로 활동하고 있으며, (사)교육연구네트워크, 삼성꿈장학재단, (사)호이, 발전대안 피다의 시민사회단체에서 자문위원으로 활동하고 있다. 주요 저서로는 ‘배움의 조건’, ‘국제교육개발협력: 이론과 실제’, ‘교육사회학’이 있으며, 번역서로 ‘교육이 미래라고 믿는 당신에게 PRIZE’, ‘스쿨: 미국공립학교의 역사’ ‘고등교육과 공익’, ‘교육과 국제개발협력’, ‘페페의 희망교육’ 등이 있다. Sung-Sang Yoo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Education and Director of the Global Education Cooperation Program, an interdisciplinary graduate program at Seoul National University, South Korea. Prior to his current position, he worked as a research fellow at the Korean Educational Development Institute (KEDI) and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies after obtaining a Ph.D. in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles with a specialization in International and Comparative Education. He has taught sociology of education, theories of education development, comparative education, global citizenship education, social justice transformative education and the theories of Paulo Freire, and has actively participated in of the implementation of international education development cooperation programs in South Asian countries, Sub-Saharan African countries, and Latin American countries. He has focused particularly on the role of basic primary education and teacher education/training in developing countries in facilitating a better education. He has been an active member of academic communities and both international and domestic education associations, including the Paulo Freire Institute / UCLA, the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES), the Korean Comparative Education Society (KCES), the Korean Society of Education for International Understanding (KSEIU), the Korean Educational Research Association (KERA), and the Korea Association of International Development and Cooperation (KAIDEC), among others. As a distinguished Korean scholar in the field of international education greatly influenced by Paulo Freire and Amartya Sen, he has delivered many lectures regarding the role of education in international development and cooperation.
