1964년 출생. 서울대학교 공학학사, 서울대학교 도시계획학 석사 및 서울대학교 행정학 박사를 취득한 후 중부대학교 교수, 충남연구원 원장 등을 역임했고, 현재 국토연구원 원장으로 활동 중이다. 또한, 녹색성장위원회, 균형발전 위원회 위원회 등 다양한 활동을 하고있다. 대표 저서로는 공간의 정치경제학-현대 도시 및 지역 연구 (2000), 국가균형발전정책의 이론과 실천 (2007), 도시에 대한 권리- 도시의 주인은 누구인가(2010) 등이 있다.

Dr, Kang hyun-soo was born in 1964. After earning B.A and M.A degress from Seoul National University, He has worked as the President, Chungnam Research Institute and became professor of Urban and Regional Planning at Joongbu University. He has also been working as the President of Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements since 2018.

Also he is Member of Committee, Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development and Member of Committee, Green Growth Korea

He has authored several publications including, The Political Economy of Space, Acanet (2000) , The City as a Forum for Communication and Networking: Its Roles and Forms in the Digital Era, Samsung Economic Research Institute (2007), The Rights to the City, Chaeksesang (2010)
